Having seen most of what there is to see in Venice in the half day we spent there, we decided to head to the nearby island of Murano for the afternoon. Greeted by friendly locals, almost no crowds, and colourful houses, if you have to time to take the short ferry over, it’s a great place to spend a couple of hours.

While similar to Venizia, it has a somewhat more lived in feel to it, with children playing in the parks, few tourists, and many shops selling their renowned glassware. The highlight of this stop for me was the multitude of dilapidated brick walls we found. Likely something that appeals to me more than most, it still makes for some very interesting pictures.
